Wonging in the crowd
A rider strategy for blackjack is called Wonging, which is also known as “back-counting " requiring the players to await behind a blackjack table where other players are playing, and applies card counting techniques to determine the time when the more favorable cards will be dealt before taking part in the game. This method is first put forwarded by Stanford Wong and the term "Wong" comes from his name. Wongers are also considered as card counters but have an additional advantage of sitting out during the parts of the game where players have a less chance of getting blackjacks thus avoiding having to lose money unnecessarily.
The player will enter or "wong in" to the game when the count reaches a point at which the player has an advantage with the increase of true count. The player may then raise the bets as their advantage increases, or lower their bets when their advantage drops down. And while the count goes down to a point where players can no longer have a positive advantage, they choose to wong, or leave when the shoe is finished and sent for shuffling. Back-counting is generally done on shoe games, of multi decks. The reason for this is that the count is more stable in a shoe game, so that a player will play longer. Also, the casino regulation is another factor which limits players to wong in the middle of the single deck table.
Wonging provides players some advantages because player does not have to play every hand he sees. First, this strategy in turn reduces variance and fluctuations, and increases the total advantage of the player since the players only bet at a level when the true count has a mathematical advantage. It makes perfect sense for any player to want to lessen the chance of losing money, as wonger shares only with the favorable cards. You can also speed things up a little by abandoning the hopelessly negative shoes from the beginning. Another advantage is that the player does not have to change their bet size as much, or at all if they chosen which makes counters less detectable by casinos. Wonging is like sharing a cake that everybody else helped bake. Of course, if less bankrolls should be required when back counting since you do not have to spend the money on the situation where you have negative expected value.
However, there could still be some back draws for back-counting. One is that the player frequently does not stay at the table long enough to earn comps from the casino which could be another income for advantage players. Besides, some players may become irritated with players who enter in the middle of a game, and believe that this interrupts the "flow" of the cards. Further, player who hops in and out of games may attract more unwanted attention from casinos, and may be detected as a card-counter. In a whole shoe of game, 25% of the time you will see positive counts, and thus most people don’t have the patience to wait for the count to a positive point.
Wonging is absolutely painfully boring and you may feel bad that you do not get to play at all, but you should feel good that you do not waste your money on any bad bets. Sometimes you could feel like a creepy old man skulking around the casino, but remember the only thing that makes you to be at blackjack tables is to make money. So, restrict your wonging strategy: try counting the positive shoes, don't waste your time back counting negative ones. If you have counted for two or three decks and there is still considerably negative count, just turn to find another table if one is just starting off the top.

It's right, that Wonging could be very boring.
Especially if there's just one table in a small casino like most of thema are in europe.
Though I like wonging better than sitting on a shoe-game-table that sucks out your money.
On the one hand it could be fun as well. I consider it as a kind of horsegame where I put my bet on some player, I think who's playing well basic strategy.
On the other hand, when you are playing blackjack in Vegas, you have many alternatives to play.
So you don't have to stuck at the same table the whole evening.
